Progressive web app development for a trade-fair experience

Porsche Connect is Porsche's digital ecosystem that seamlessly links the vehicle, smartphone, and online services into an intuitive, modern user experience. For Auto Shanghai 2023, we built a progressive web app (PWA) that brings this digital interior to life on any device, with no install required. The app showcases the features of Porsche Connect through clear, engaging content and makes them directly tangible through interactive elements. Visitors at the exhibition could explore how the vehicle is digitally controlled, personalized, and enhanced, gaining a vivid impression of how technology and driving pleasure come together to form a holistic Porsche experience.

Inside the PWA: interactive experiences and games

The resulting web app is far more than a digital catalog. It offers interactive experiences and games, such as a virtual race track where users learn about effective driving in a Porsche. The app lets them experience the car from both the driver's and the passenger's perspective. The passenger view shows how movies can be watched on the new passenger display without distracting the driver. With the "My Porsche" app, users can also control ambient lighting, sound, and air conditioning in the interior. We delivered the result in an implementation sprint of just four weeks, realized by a team of six developers.

Technically, we built the project as a progressive web app (PWA) on React and Vite, so it loads fast and runs in the browser without an install. The games were implemented with PixiJS for optimal rendering performance on the devices visitors used at the booth. The entire app is hosted on AWS to keep the experience fast and secure. From concept through frontend development to operation, naymspace delivered the custom software end to end.

Despite the short time frame, all team members pulled together, supported each other, and gave their all. The various components were implemented with motivation and determination. We are proud that we were able to realize such a great project as a team in such a short time.
